     Louis Gilrod born the December, 10th 1879 in Roizana in the Poltava district in Ukraine. His family went to New York in 1892, when he was 12. As a poet and popular composer, he had been engaged in writing —for commercial publication— of Yiddish versions of popular American songs from Tin Pan Alley, and composed many parodies like'Gedalye', parodie of 'Bedelia' by Jean Schwartz and William Jerome.
     He recorded some comic speechs around 1915, with Isidore Lillian et Gus Goldstein
      In 1922, year when Aaron Lebedeff began to sing for Vocalion Records, he became the writer of all the lyrics for the songs by Peretz Sandler (1853-1931) sung by Lebedeff. He composed some musics like Di Grine Lina, a song you can hear in the 3-CD set. He appeared often on stage around 1925 and died March, 10th 1930, at 50. He was married with Paula Weiss, actress in the vaudeville.
