Since the Aaron Lebedeff album produced by Banner is the only one readily available for download, I would really appreciate the lyrics for the songs on that album. I have the vinyl version which I purchased many years ago, and have recently purchased the MP3 version.

I am the host of Washington Jewish Radio since 1980. I have played Lebedeff's recordings on the air for years. I have heard his music since I was a little child. My father, a"h, loved his music and I have just about all of his 78's. The best!!

My mother was a chorus girl in the Yiddish theater and became very good friends with "Lebby." He was often at our home in Brooklyn and Queens and I have the gift he gave my mother when I was born. My father was a box office manager in the 1950's at the National Theater on Delancey Street in NY. I had the good fortune to see Lebby perform Rumania several times and to hear his other songs. He was a handsome and dapper man! Thank you for this site.

je suis sans voix après la découverte de ce site. Bien fait, clair et plein d'illustration sonore que j'ai eu du mal dans le passé à trouver.J'ai du me payer le voyage jusqu'à Brooklyn pratiquement pour les trouver. Un plus serait d'avoir les textes en yddisch (pas tranlittérés) et fronçais pour ceux qui ne peuvent pas lire.

I love this song. I remember the night my grandfather came back from NYC with a victrola and lots of 78 recordings including the Colombia recording. Thankyou so much for doing the research and preserving this memory for so many of us.

i am a big fan of lebedeff for years & i collected a lot of records from him in libraries (rare stuff) i hope you will do a good job about him. he made over 150 songs or even 78s records. i have something from the radio in the 40s or 50s singing a some kind of song like(lider krants)keep it up

I first heard Roumania on the Victrola in our Brooklyn,NY home back in 1941. I tried to memorize the song before I was 5.
When I was in my 40's I decided to seriously learn it. In the past 20 years I have sung this wonderful song at many family & friends' weddings and bar mitzvahs. It is always a hit.

I was looking for the song Romania since I heared it as a young boy in a Yiddish program on the Israeli radio some 40 years ago. When I found it in Youtube I finally recognized the recording by Lebedeff as the one I heared 40 years ago. I hope the shop will open soon to get a copy.

When I take a walk in the Buttes-Chaumont I sometimes meet "Monsieur Aaron", an 80-year-old guy whose name is Aaron like me, and who emigrated to France from Rumania in 1945. (He comes from Jasi.)
